Baked Potato
Taken from the BBC Food Guide:
“It’s hard to beat the humble jacket potato, hot out of the oven with a crisp, golden exterior and a delightfully fluffy inside. Low fat, fibre-rich potatoes also make a brilliant base for a healthy meal that’s perfect for lunch or dinner.”
Ingredients
- 1 large Baking Potato (200g)
- 1tbsp Virgin Olive Oil
- Knob of Butter (15g)
- Salt to taste
If any fillings or toppings are added then the nutritional values for each of them should be added to the values of the accompanying nutrional table.
Cooking Guidlines
Wash the potatoes and prick the skins with a fork. This creates escape exits for the steam that will form within the potato. rub the Olive oil all over the skin to create a nice crispy skin. Roll the potato in the kithen roll and put in the microwave on full power for about 4 minutes, then remove the potato from the microwave and turn it over. Be careful, the potato will be hot! Cook for another 4 mins. The time to bake the potato will vary with the size of the potato and the wattage of the microwave, and a very large potato may require a bit more time. Allow the potato to cool before serving. Time and experience will improve the results, so keep a record of your successes and modify your cooking times accordingly.
