Chicken Drumsticks

Chicken drumsticks make useful snacks. but they can also form part of a lunch or dinner main course. If being cooked in an air fryer it is not strictly necessary to rub the drumsticks with oil as the air fryer will create nice crispy skin without. However you can marinade the drumsticks in a marinade of your choice. A simple marinade could be oil, garlic, sea salt, and pepper. Just remember to adjust the nutritional value if adding other ingredients like BBQ sauce for example.

Ingredients

  • 4 Chicken Drumsticks – roughly 125g each
  • 2 tsp Olive Oil (Optional)
  • Sea Salt to Taste
  • Pepper if required

Cooking Guidlines

Air Fryer. If your Air fryer has a pre heat facility then preheat to 200C.
Now is the time to brush the drumsticks with some oil or marinate in a marinade of your choice if desired. As stated above, there is no need to coat the drumsticks with oil, but you should coat them with the sea salt. Add the drumsticks to the air fryer basket ensuring there is a lttle space between them. We are only doing 4 drumsticks in this recipe, but if you wanted you could cook them in batches and do as many as you require. Cook for about 25 minutes, turning halfway through. Check the chicken is cooked all the way through – they should reach 75C (175F) internally or bake until the juice runs clear and there is no pink flesh.

Conventional oven. Preheat oven to 400F, 300C, gas mark 6 or 180C in a fan oven. and set aside.
Pat dry the chicken pieces with a paper towel and rub the oil and sea salt (or a spice mixture) onto the chicken pieces and arrange them on a baking tray prepared with oil. Bake in the pre-heated oven for 30-35 minutes or until cooked through turning halfway through cooking to encourage all over crispiness of the skin. If you have a thermometer the internal temperature of the drumsticks should be 75C (175F). If you have no thermometer bake until the juice runs clear and there is no pink flesh.
